They have been singing live, producing albums, and touring the world since their founding in 1946. On Friday, February 28th at 6:30 pm, The Community Players Children’s Theatre Project’s Winter Vacation Theatre Camp presents “The Story of Hansel and Gretel”. A comical musical retelling of the Brothers Grimm classic tale of two lost children, a gingerbread house and a witch, but with some twists. The witch loves to bake; she has two bumbling hobgoblin “assistants”, and the forest around her house is full of fanciful creatures, including a talking owl! This one hour show is fun for all ages! Other than using the words and songs of Tom Lehrer, this musical review (with words and songs) bears absolutely no similarities with the words and songs pulled together by Mackintosh (except, perhaps, some of the words and songs). Poisoning Pigeons in the Park, The Masochism Tango, Smut, The Vatican Rag, and My Home Town are just a few of the songs Tom Lehrer wrote and performed in recordings and live concerts to great acclaim. On Monday morning, we’ll prepare the mailing to be mailed to over 5000 households promoting the upcoming season. Throughout the 3 days, we’ll be cleaning, sewing, washing windows and much more.
